Another great effort by our Junior Pennant team

An entertaining and hard‑fought day at Mansfield yesterday. The boys came up against an undermanned Yarrawonga. However they brought 3 very good young golfers along and eventually the match ended all square at 2.5 all.

Beau started strongly and jumped out to a lead early, but his opponent showed plenty of grit, fighting back to eventually take the match away from Beau 3&2.

In his debut match, Sam couldn’t quite get going but showed great courage and persistence, keeping the match alive almost to the end before going down 2&1.

Kal’s match was tight from start to finish, with numerous lead changes across all 18 holes, eventually finishing all square to halve the points.

With Yarrawonga having to concede the other two matches, Noah and I teed it up in what turned into a battle for the ages. After I took an early 1 up lead, Noah decided he’d had enough and put the foot down, racing to 4 up through the front nine.
After some good golf and a big fight back, Noah was only 1 up with one to play. The pressure didn’t get to him though, after he Parred the 18th to win 2 up.

We now have a short break with Easter and a bye, before our next match at Wangaratta on the 19th of April against Mansfield.

Great effort by all players — plenty to like moving forward!
